Digital transformation technologies for sustainable supply chain
Abstract
Digital transformation and the disruptive digital technologies at the forefront of the Industry 4.0 manufacturing revolution would not merely improve the efficiency and integrity of the supply chain network but also bring extensive capabilities to enrich sustainability performance. Therefore, there is an extremely significant advantage for supply chain managers in aligning their business processes and strategies with improved sustainability issues. To better understand the potential effects of digital transfer technologies on the social and environmental sustainability dimensions of the supply chain, the following three key aspects are addressed in this chapter: the importance of sustainability issues for the deployment of digital transfer technologies, impacts of digital transfer technologies on the sustainability performance, and the linkage between technology deployment to the overall digital transfer strategy in terms of sustainability.
